Dr. Guzzo is a sociologist and demographer. Her work focuses on less traditional but fairly common family and childbearing behaviors, paying attention to trends over time and differences across race, class, and gender. Dr. Guzzo has studied cohabitation extensively, with emphasis in recent years on cohabiting families with children (both biological and stepchildren). She also studies unintended childbearing and its causes, consequences, and linkages to other family behaviors, such as union formation and stability and childbearing with different partners.
