Kelley Fong is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of California, Irvine, where she studies poverty, inequality, social policy, children and youth, education, and family life. Much of her current work examines the causes and consequences of families’ high and unequal exposure to Child Protective Services, drawing on administrative data as well as fieldwork with mothers, child protection investigators, and professionals mandated to report child maltreatment. Her book manuscript, Investigating Families, will be published by Princeton University Press in 2023.
